Common Questions
No team publishes an official line chart. These are estimated -- ranked from ice time and, when a team is on tonight's slate, from that game's own player usage -- so they read close to warmups but can differ from what actually happens on the bench.
PuckCast only shows a team's estimated lines for tonight's game when that estimate is fresh and actually covers that team. When it isn't (preseason, an off night, or the nightly line-combo run hasn't produced it yet), the page falls back to the team's most-used forward lines and defense pairs from the most recent season and says so -- it never relabels an old estimate as tonight's.
Tonight's estimated lines, when shown, come from a nightly run ahead of that game. The season fallback updates once a season is far enough along to have its own most-used units.
